How to Reach?
We came here in our own vehicle. In case you would like to hire a cab to come here you would be available from the city.
The park is on the way to Mullayanagiri. The park has ample parking area and you can park your vehicle here.
Chikmagalur is known as the land of hills and is famous for its coffee production and sale. The topography of Chikmagalur is such that it helps in growing trees. Due to this, you will find Chikmagalur green throughout the year.
M G Park Chikmagalur is one of the famous places in Chikmagalur. Spread across a few acres, it is a lovely park. It has scenic gardens that everyone can enjoy, especially the kids. Our daughter was over excited to visit this beautiful park.

Timings – Open on All Days Except Bank Holidays from 8 am to 7 pm
The tickets for the mini train are Rs. 50 each.
Relax at the Pond
As soon as you enter the park you are greeted by an artificial pond in which lotuses are blooming. The pond has some 7,8 statues. Many other flowers are seen here. We can also see some ducks in the pond. It is a happy sight to see these ducks crisscrossing us while we walk.
Mini Train
We were very eager to sit on the train. The Mini train gives you the look of the entire park in 15 odd minutes.
If you are short of time to add M G Park Chikmagalur to your itinerary then you can check the entire park by the mini train.
The mini train gives you a ride throughout the park. This is beneficial since it would take almost 30 mins to walk non-stop to check out the park.
Greenery and Flowers
The M G Park Chikmagalur is well maintained with a lot of greenery and flowers everywhere. It has more than a couple of hundred species of plants.
Walking Trails
It has 2 3 walking trails which cross each other. There are many pathways to roam around in the silent bushes and greenery around. The paths are also covered with grass in the grooves. It looks beautiful and velvety.
We saw many centipede-like harmless and sluggish worms on the paths. Our little one loved to see these worms.
Photography
Like in Hirekolale Lake, we saw ongoing photography sessions here. Apart from wedding photography, the park has many places for photoshoots. You can click on your child’s 1st Birthday or any other occasion photos here in general.
For tourists too, this is a place for Instagramable photos.
Fun Places for Kids
Machans or Tree House
The Park hosts some 2 to 3 Machhans on which you or your child can go on the top and check out for a little further from a height. It has a Kid’s play zone with treehouses.
Artificial Caves
My daughter was excited to visit this and the artificial caves.
Going from one side and coming out from the other seems to be a thrill for kids visiting the M G Park Chikmagalur.
Kids Play area with Swing and Slides
In the park, you will 2 such places and it is again a fun place for kids.
Open Air Gym
The park has an open-air gym for anyone who is health-conscious. , the regular visitors from Chikmagalur are the ones who use this facility.
Amphitheater
The park has an amphitheater which tourists can give it miss.
Food Counter
At the entrance itself, you will get a counter for snacks. Buttered Corn, Sweet Candies, and Cold drinks are all available here.
Our Opinion if You Should Visit M G Park Chikmagalur
For a tourist, we would say yes. Yes, you should visit the M G Park Chikmagalur but only if you have some time and leisure.
The park has a lot of greenery and is mostly used for photo shoots by couples or for kids. Romance is in the air in the park and couples love spending time together here.
You will love the plants, bushes, and trees around the whole park.
It is a perfect place for kids and families.
It is a setting for forgetting the buzz of city life and living close to nature in silence.
It is a vast area of acres and takes time to explore the entire park. You can spend a nice evening here for a couple of hours at least.
We loved spending 2 hours of our time here at the M G Park Chikmagalur.
Only if you are short of time or if you have visited Chikmagalur before then you can think of giving the park a miss.
