There are two routes from Pune to Ladghar. Both these routes will meet at Mahad. One of these will pass through the Tamhini Ghat and then via Mangaon and Mahad.

This journey is 220 kms and requires about 5 hours without a break. This route is shorter and in our excitement to reach early we took this route while going.

The other route is to come from Pune to Ladghar via the back side of Mahabaleshwar. In this route, you will need to use the Mahabaleshwar route by taking diversion on NH4 at Wai. After Mahabaleshwar, you cross Pratapgad and Poladpur and then Mahad. It is a total distance of 240 kms and takes about 6 to 6 ½ hours to reach Pune. We took this route on our way back.

From Mumbai, you will have to take the New Mumbai Goa Highway route and reach Mangaon and then Mahad. From Mahad, you need to divert and reach Ladghar Beach.

Stay Options

As you will search the internet for options to stay in Ladghar beach you come across many options. Of these one was The Fern Samali Resort is a good resort in itself but it is some distance from the beach. Choose this if you would like a comfortable stay but not near or on the beach.

We preferred to stay at Sagar Sawali Resort as it was very close to Ladghar Beach. The Ladghar Beach was visible all the time from here and it took us a minute to walk to be on the beach.

At this resort, you will always hear the roaring of the sea waves. It is at an elevated position and hence it has a beautiful view of the Arabian Sea.

Nearby Places

You can visit the other beaches of Dapoli which are Anjarle, Harnai, Karde and Kelshi. Of these, Harnai beach has a fish market. You can visit here to see how the fishermen get fish from the sea from the boats. You can also see how they deal with the local vendors to sell their fish.

At a distance of 25 to 30 mins is a dome shaped structure dedicated to Bhagwan Parshuram, known as Parshuram Bhumi. This place is on a higher elevation and that’s why the views from this place are beautiful. One can spend some silent time here, away from the sound of the sea waves nearby.

Further in this direction are 2 more beaches, Tamastirth and Kolthare Beach. Beyond this is the city of Dabhol.

Coming Back from Ladghar Beach to Pune

Pune to Ladghar Beach Road Trip is a good weekend destination. It is good for weekend road trip families and among friends. One can spend 2 – 3 days here and refresh.

On our way back, we chose to come from the Mahabaleshwar way. This would take another 6 hours without a break. So we went from Poladpur to Mahabaleshwar. We explored the rear side of Mahabaleshwar which we usually do not do. Here, the ghat here has lots of bends and curves. Once we reached Mahabaleshwar we again came back on NH4 (Mumbai Bangalore Highway) at Wai. From there we came back to Pune via the NH4.
